(1) Electrical /Wiring/DC to DCC
To include absolute basics, wiring of track, switches, points, servos etc to fit the recently agreed standards.
(2) Soldering Skills
Must include types of suitable equipment, types of solder and temperatures, fluxes and the overall applicability to wiring, track building, kit building in all metals.
(3) Computer Software
The use of same in the model railway hobby (layout planning etc)
(4) Layout Planning and Survey
Actual planning for type of layout, scale, history, geographic location, suitability for modelling large or small, real vs. fictitious locations.
(5) Kit building & Super detailing of R-T-R Items also Scratchbuilding
Locos, rolling Stock, Architectural, Town and Station (Railway buildings)
(6) Decoration – Scenic’s
To include foundation work, application of scenic scatter materials, static grass applicators, backscene construction and the use of forced perspective in diminishing scales.
(7) Decoration – Painting / Finishing
To cover scenics, track, priming, top finishing, weathering, transfer applications (all types) Airbrush vs. Aerosol Cans vs. Hand brushing.
In addition to the above, the club is planning to invite lecturers to cover various aspects of railway matters. A separate notice will be made to advise you of these events in due course.
We also are considering the re-launch of the club model railway competition to cover many of the subjects within the hobby such as loco construction, rolling stock, architectural work and super detailing of RTR items.
Finally we are also looking into the possibility of visits “awaydays” to various locations from exhibitions and heritage railway sites etc. Again, these matters will be posted to the website and also notices of same will appear in the club house in due course
